PROJECTS

WELDO embarks upon several trade promotion projects between Europe and Asia and between Asia-Asia from time to time. SMEs related to the sectors targeted in these projects can reap multiple benefits from these projects launched through the support of the EuropeAid’s Asia Invest Program. 

Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism 2008 (EST 2008)

EST is a EuropeAid's funded initiative which is aimed at promoting the concept of Eco Tourism and Sustainable Tourism. Although the term is pretty new to the tourism industry in Pakistan but it is a very future oriented and can lead to conservation of natural treasures that Pakistan has an abundance of. EcoTourism and Sustainable Tourism can be defined as a travel to natural areas which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of the local people. WELDO is the Pakistan partner for the EST 2008 project.

 

The main activity for this project is the business matchmaking event for SMEs related to the EcoTourim and Sustainable Tourism. Organizations from over 10 countries shall take part in this business matchmaking event. This event will provide relevant Pakistani companies an unprecedented advantage to enter into viable business contracts with similar companies from Europe and Asia and expand their businesses and Green Tourism to new horizons.

This matchmaking event will take place in Shanghai, China during November 2008. This delegation of environmentally green tourism companies will Under this project WELDO shall be short listing 5 SMEs related to the EcoTourism and Sustainable Tourism sector. WELDO will start short listing relevant SMEs for this event from 30th March 2008.

 

Costs related to the airfare from Pakistan-Shanghai-Pakistan and two days accommodation to the participating SMEs will be provided by  WELDO through the financial support of EuropeAid's Asia Invest Program. For more information Click Here!!

 

ISFAT

 

This project aims at providing technical assistance and business skills development to SMEs related to the floriculture sector. This project will enable Pakistani SMEs related to the Floriculture sector to adopt best practices and achieve EUREP certification. More information on this project will be available after 30th March 2008.

ETHICMATCH

ETHICMATCH is a European Union’s funded initiative under the Asia Invest Program It aims at supporting business co-operation in Europe and Asia between socially responsible SMEs operating in the child’s garment sectors including Ready made garments and accessories, Apparel, Sports Wear, machinery and service suppliers related to child fashion garments and garment industry. A number of at least 400 enterprises, among Italian, Spanish, Indian and Pakistani SMEs, complying with working conditions codes of conduct, will be promoted through the Project Portal and other locally implemented activities.

The main event under this project will take place in Arezzo, Italy from the 16th March to the 19th March. A total of 12 SMEs have been short listed by WELDO to participate in this event. All companies have been short listed therefore WELDO is not seeking any new applications now. For more information about the event please click here!!

Costs related to the airfare from Pakistan-Rome-Pakistan and travel from Rome-Arezzo-Rome shall be borne by WELDO under financial support from EuropeAid's Asia Invest Program.

 

IPSME-I 2006

The two day India Pakistan SME Matchmaking Event (IPSME) between SMEs from India and Pakistan concluded on 22nd May 2006 in Chandigarh, India. The IPSME was held by Women Empowerment Literacy and Development Organization, Pakistan and Center for Research in Rural and Industrial Development, India. The meeting was attended by more than 50 SMEs from both sides of the border. The meeting was very successful with many SMEs showing interest to carryout business deals on just the second day of the meeting. The meeting was attended by the IT, Food Processing, Dairy and Agriculture sector.

A similar event of this nature would be held in Pakistan by WELDO in near future.

ASIA INTERPRISE ANUGA 2005

The Asia Interprise Anuga 2005 project drew business personnel from all over Asia and Europe. WELDO was the Pakistani partner for the project entrusted with the task of promoting business between Pakistan and Europe. The project was successfully implemented and now it is in its final phase. The carefully and thoroughly planned Business Meeting in Cologne, Germany during the background of Anuga Trade Fair 2005 provided prospective business opportunity for SMEs from Pakistan and Europe.

Financial assistance was provided to the companies that participated in this event.
