Tobacco Control Tobacco is the number one manmade killer in the world that is totally avoidable. According to estimates more people die annually from tobacco use than from diseases like AIDS, TB and Malaria combined. Research on Tobacco Control WELDO is currently carrying our research on a host of issues related to tobacco in Pakistan including percentage of women tobacco users in Pakistan, Gender Based Analysis of Tobacco Policies in Pakistan and Determinants of Tobacco use in Pakistan. WELDO's tobacco control publications, surveys. research and study reports will be posted on this website soon.
Practical Projects for Tobacco Control WELDO has recently embarked upon launching a Tobacco Control movement aimed at raising taxation and posting pictorial warnings on tobacco products in Pakistan. WELDO is currently working with partners from United States and Canada on tobacco control. |

Tobacco Control Research GENDER BASED ANALYSIS OF SELECTED TOBACCO CONTROL POLICY INITIATIVES IN PAKISTAN Gender Based Analysis of Selected Tobacco Run Programs in Pakistan is an International Development Research Center's (IDRC) funded research project. This project is aimed at controlling the high rate increase in the number of female smokers in Pakistan. The project intends to achieve this through carrying out gender based analysis of tobacco control programs, identifying gaps in them and compiling a framework for effective tobacco control programs that cater to the needs of both genders. In this regard we require your input.
