Peace Building and Conflict Resolution
Currently Pakistan is home to one of the worst conflicts in the world that threatens its very existence and the stability of the South Asian region. Threats like Pakistani Taliban, terrorist groups, separatists groups, wide spread corruption and afghan Taliban have made the security situation in Pakistan very precarious. Just in the year 2009 there have been a documented 12,632 casualties in Pakistan (Institute of Peace Studies in Pakistan). The situation lately is becoming worse instead of getting better as factors like lack of education, poverty and disinformation is contributing to the spread of these elements and recruitment of vulnerable groups by these elements.
WELDO is carrying out a number of research and developmental projects for controlling the spiraling conflict situation in Pakistan. These projects include initiatives aimed at bringing about a culture of peace, tolerance and interfaith harmony through inculcating respect and adoption for moderation, enlightenment, peace, tolerance, diversity, inter-communal conflict and sectarian extremism.
Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Research
WELDO is carrying out a number of research initiatives aimed at analyzing the causes of conflicts, sectarian violence and religious extremism in Pakistan and highlighting the factors that can help in controlling these factors effectively.
Direct Intervention Project
Our direct intervention projects include projects that are aimed at building a culture of peace tolerance and interfaith harmony through inculcating respect and adoption for moderation, enlightenment, peace, tolerance, diversity, inter-communal conflict and sectarian extremism amongst youth, in educational institutions, amongst Ulema etc/.
