Gender

Women Empowerment in the field of economics, literacy and development is an important component of WELDO. At WELDO we do not only carryout projects for women but our projects are also carried out by women. WELDO is currently carrying out the following programs to bring about gender equality in Pakistan:-

Women In Trade (WIT)
WIT is an important program which is aimed at providing support to women who are currently engaged in business activities in Pakistan. In this regard WELDO provides capacity building for women business owners in order to build their strength in presentation of their products, in communication, in access to foreign markets through international projects and through providing them funds for participation in international trade related meetings (only through solicited calls!).

Women In Energy (WE)

WE is an important component of gender equality. Women and energy are critical for each other. Women are not only the ones who are most affected by lack of energy but they are also the ones who are most suitable for conservation of energy. Realizing the importance of this engagement of women with energy WELDO is currently carrying out programs at international level that include capacity building of women in energy conservation at home, at the office and in their businesses. WELDO is also carrying out projects to provide energy sources to women in the form of solar geezers, energy efficient lighting at home and initiating projects that will aim at introduction of small biogas plants that can fulfill energy needs for a small household. At international level WELDO is currently working on WIN in Germany, Spain and Italy.

In Pakistan WELDO is working with SMEs (owned by women) in introducing energy efficient work environment and water conservation.

Actions for Gender Responsive Economic Development (AGREE)
AGREE is an innovative and dynamic program that is aimed at building the capacity of women and girl job seekers and graduate and post graduate level. This program not only provides training to women in real time job environment but also builds their capacity in CV preparation, interview preparation and confidence building.

AGREE also provides vocational training to women who have some how been unable to gain education. Vocational training is designed on a yearly basis.

The project intends to achieve this through carrying out gender based analysis of tobacco control programs, identifying gaps in them and compiling a framework for effective tobacco control programs that cater to the needs of both genders. In this regard we require your input. So whether you are a research institute, a university, an organization or a hospital working on tobacco control programs come ahead with your support and send your publications to us.
